A catalog of my English mystery collection is maintained at
LibraryThing.
My Chinese books (mostly Japanese books translated into Chinese)
are listed separately at
aNobii,
which boasts better unicode support.
I prefer classic puzzlers, especially those falling into
the impossible crime subgenre, rather than modern suspense
or thrillers. My favorite author is undoubtedly John Dickson Carr, followed by
either Ellery Queen or Shimada Soji. I resent Raymond Chandler.
The impossible crime subgenre should not be limited to
locked rooms, though it is the main specialty of Carr and
his numerous modern Japanese followers. For example, lots
of G. K. Chesterton's early stories are
not locked room puzzles. Another orthogonal field that
has long been overlooked is the "unbreakable alibi"
type, mastered by Freeman Wills Crofts and Christopher
Bush.
